An inspiring start to the Riverkeeper journey
As the sun sets on a tumultuous year, we reflect on the start of the Richmond Riverkeeper journey.
Inspired by the story and impact of the Yarra Riverkeeper Association, the Richmond Riverkeeper Association was launched in June at a forum which demonstrated the level of interest in our vision from across the catchment. Since then our priorities have been to connect with people and share information - which there has been a lot of as we move through what has been a very challenging year for our catchment and our community.
We’ve been busy!
The Richmond Riverkeeper Association has been meeting monthly since April, incorporated, been registered as charity, drafted a submission to the NSW Flood lnquiry, connected with the Yarra Riverkeeper, and the Global Waterkeeper Alliance. We have shared our collective priorities for developing protocols, undertaking community engagement and working to bring together a whole of catchment focus to catchment health.
